Chamois leather and silver polishing cloths I
Hello.
If you go to a silver care product store (Tokyu Hands, etc.), you will usually find the one pictured below or something similar.
I went shopping for care products, but what should I buy? There are several types, which is a problem.
I think there are many people who have had such an experience. I would like to briefly explain the difference and usage for such times.

Chamois <deerskin> : Harp Co., Ltd.
chamois
Chamois is natural leather softened for use as a cleaning cloth. Unlike man-made materials, it has a finer fiber structure, making it suitable for absorbing and removing dirt such as grease and finger marks.
After removing the jewelry, wiping it dry with a chamois leather removes sweat and sebum stains and helps maintain silver’s shine and reduce tarnishing. (* Leaving dirt for a long time may cause cloudiness or discoloration, making it difficult to clean with just chamois leather.)
Regular care makes a noticeable difference over time. Consider making it part of your daily routine.
Chamois cloths vary in thickness and texture. They are generally the same in terms of functionality, but I think it would be better for you to choose from thick and solid textures to thin and soft ones depending on the shape and use of the jewelry.
The [chamois leather <deerskin>: Harp Co., Ltd.] in the previous image is relatively thick and sturdy.
For thin and soft leather, the [chamois leather: Lezax] below is reasonably priced and recommended for finely decorated items such as jewelry.

Chamois: Lezax
The big difference between chamois leather and silver cloth, which is the title of this time, is that chamois leather does not contain abrasive ingredients. As explained at the beginning, chamois leather is made from natural leather that has been softened, and does not abrade the surface when you wipe it. Absorbs and removes dirt. It removes surface dirt, but does not remove tarnish.
However, since it does not contain abrasives, it can be wiped off without damaging jewelery. In particular, since diamonds are lipophilic, sebum stains easily adhere to them, so chamois leather is recommended for cleaning.

Next time, I will write about silver cloth containing abrasives.
Until next time.
